Kathy Corey Pilates Workshop and Certifying Teachers come to you with a minimum of 15 years of Pilates teaching experience. Kathy Corey is a Master Teacher who began her career with the Pilates Technique in 1979.   She has been the leading expert in the Pilates community for over 30 years.  She is the Director of Kathy Corey Pilates. The Kathy Corey Pilates Certification Program is taught at locations across the United States and her continuing education programs are taught in twenty-four countries. In 2004, she designed the innovative CORE Band™, which is used in studios around the world.  The Core Band™ Mat Class is recognized as an enhancement to the traditional mat exercises. 

Since 2007, Corey has been a member of the IDEA Pilates Task Force.  She is on the Contributing Editor Board for IDEA Pilates Today and invited to be profiled as an IDEA Expert. 

She is an Advisory Board Member for Pilates Style Magazine and a member of the Board of Advisors for the American Fitness Professional Association (AFPA).

Corey was appointed to the faculty of the University of Alcalá, Spain, the first University to incorporate Pilates into a Master of Science degree program.

PilatesAnytime.com has invited Kathy Corey to be a “Distinguished Instructor”.  Pilates Anytime is a global Pilates Studio, created for people all over the world to explore Pilates with highly skilled, well-trained instructors.  

Corey is PMA Pilates Gold Certified and she has been selected by IDEA as one of ten people in the world “Who Inspire the World to Fitness,” the fitness industry’s highest form of recognition.

Cecile LeMoine Bankston began studying Pilates in 1983 and she has been teaching Pilates for 19 years. She is the Assistant Director of Kathy Corey Pilates.

As a former professional dancer, her innovative teaching style has led her to be an international presenter of workshops and master classes, including the Body Mind Spirit Educational Conference, the Pilates Method Alliance Conference, the Inner IDEA Conference, and the IDEA World Fitness Convention. Bankston has worked with professional athletes, dancers and rehabilitative clients. She has designed programs for the Louisiana State University Athletic training department as well as the Louisiana State University Women’s Tennis Team. Her workouts have appeared in Dance Spirit Magazine, and Women’s Health.

VERONICA PONIEMAN

Veronica Ponieman is a professional dancer with over 20 years of experience that has trained in many different areas in relationship to art and acting. Part of this training was undertaken at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in New York, the Centre De Danse Du Marais in Paris, and at the San Martin Contemporary School in Buenos Aires. She was an educator and the director of the Pilates Institute in Latin America until 2008.

Personally trained by Michael King, Malcolm Muirhead, and Nuala Coombs , while as a tutor teaching their workshops in Argentina and abroad and  trained under Kathy Corey in the United States, Veronica Ponieman  is an official teacher of the COREBAND Program in Latin America. She is an international presenter of the Pilates work in countries such as Russia, England, Brazil, Japan, Uruguay, Ireland, Paraguay, Australia, and the United States.

Along with Michael King, Veronica is a creator of a new exercise program called SPIRALS, which has been very successful in Europe and Japan.

Veronica is the director and creator of VP Educacion Continua Latino America, which is internationally supported by Michael King Pilates and Kathy Corey Pilates for Instructor Training.

 

Amy

AMY COREY

Daughter of renowned Master Teacher Kathy Corey, Amy Corey has been studying the Pilates Method for 30 years and has been teaching for over 20.  She is a certifying instructor for Kathy Corey Pilates and teaches on all equipment at all levels. She develops continuing education programs and appears in numerous Pilates training videos and books.

Amy Corey also holds a Ph.D. in Communication Studies and is a professor at Gonzaga University. She has incorporated the academic study of Pilates philosophy, technique, and genealogy into her work on culture, the body, gender, and body image.
